Who can apply

Open to adults 18 and older across the United States — individuals may apply for themselves, and groups, organizations, and project teams may apply for collective work. There is no income cap, no means test, and no requirement that you be in financial crisis. You may apply for yourself. Each person submits their own application. Community projects, small business growth, education, housing stability, medical costs, and civic initiatives — for individuals, groups, organizations, and projects.

Who CAP reviews every day

Adults 18+ may apply for themselves. Groups, organizations, and project teams may apply for collective work. Categories below show common paths — not closed doors.

• Community projects

  Individuals, community groups, nonprofit partners, and teams leading local projects.

• Small business growth

  Entrepreneurs, independent operators, and growing small businesses.

• Education & skills

  Students, career changers, educators, and adults investing in skills.

• Housing stability

  Households working toward ownership or protecting the home they have.

• Medical costs

  Individuals and families with medical costs that remain unpaid.

• Civic & policy engagement

  Individuals, organizers, educators, and teams building civic capacity.

• Seniors & retirees

  Seniors and retirees with medical, housing, or personal goals.

• General grants

  Anyone 18 or older with a clear purpose and a plain explanation.

What does not make a file a loan

CAP Grants are not loans. Selection does not create monthly payments to CAP. Applying does not create debt. Not every complete application is selected — billions in grants still means each file is reviewed on its own.
